Ahoy, Pirates!
Seems to me, you’re fast becoming a real Pirate! A huge congrats on wringin’ out the ‘Bucs. And now it’s time to bring it home for our second meet against the Clear Lake City Stars. You best be bringin’ your A-Game because they handed us our only loss last year, and it was a real heartbreaker. Our Coach don’t be needin’ a repeat of that.
This one will be a Home Meet at the Manvel High School, so all hands on deck. Click here for some bits of info like events, directions, and other stuff. If the entries are not up yet, they will be soon. We’ve had some last minute changes that had to be made (Argghhh!). If you are going to be a no show, you need to let the Clerk of Course know immediately. Please call to inform Patti at 832-725-7388. Please do not call this number for any other reason.
We are back inside. Yay! Bring blankets, sleeping bags, air mattresses, pillows, chairs, two towels, goggles, swim cap, change of clothes, and entertainment . . . and, of course, your Pirate Spirit. And you best be bringing your loot for our very own grub and grog. Our concessions has no equal in the league, and I ain’t just sayin’ that. We have the best spread around. And if you decide to bring your own food . . . then off with your head. Menu items will include Amy’s Famous Breakfast Burritos guaranteed to get you all warm and fuzzy inside; and Ellen’s Special Coffee designed to jump-start a body that rolled out of bed WAY too early; and lots of other delicious and satisfying stuff.
We will begin check-in at 6:45 a.m. We will end check-in at 7:15 a.m. Do NOT be late or you will NOT be swimming. Warm-ups begin right after check-in. To check in, look for the junior coaches. They will be in place to circle your name, give you your event stickers, and write your event numbers on your arm. Warm-ups for our team begin at 7:00 a.m. PEAK swimmers with Saturday morning practice will need to be checked in no later than 7:30 a.m.
And now for a little bit of good news. The League has adopted a Decency Policy regarding the suits that the swimmer’s wear, and we plan on enforcing this policy with a walk on the plank. And if you were at the last meet, you are probably saying, “Thank God.” We’ve never had a problem on our team, so we do not have anything to worry about. But I thought I would let you know that you can put your mind at ease, and your hand away from your little one’s eyes.
If you sign up for a meet and you fail to attend without informing the Clerk, your swimmer will be penalized by sitting out one meet. If you sign up for a meet, attend the meet and leave before your events are finished without letting the Clerk know, then your swimmer will be penalized two meets. I hate to punish the kids, so please don’t make me.
Remember you are responsible for getting your child to the Ready Area in time for their events by keeping track of the official event board by the pool and the Ready Area. As a courtesy, we try to help you do this by announcing what races are lining up. However, it is ultimately you and your swimmer’s responsibility.
You can pick up your ribbons from our last meet at the Spirit Shop, which will be located close to Concessions.
If you are unable to make your commitment to your volunteer time, you will need to be in contact with your Chairperson. If your child gets sick and you call into the Clerk to let her know, you will still need to contact your Chair to let them know.
Time to set sail, Pirates!
Thanks,
Rhonda
