Welcome Letter

April 18, 2008

 

The Board and the Coaching Staff would like to welcome you to the Pearland Swim Team for our 2008 season.  Because the season is short, we do a lot of stuff in very little time.  Please make sure you check the website daily for new information such as pool closures and meet announcements. All our communication will be via e-mail and website.  If you or someone you know on the team is not receiving my e-mails, please add Rhonda.paz@sbcglobal.net to your Safe Sender’s List.  Or else I will go in the trash.

 

IMPORTANT DATES:

 

*   Payment Date – April 19, Saturday, 9 a – 12 p at the Morgan Street Pool (3131 Morgan Street)

*    This will be your first opportunity to make your registration payment, pick your practice time, and choose where you will volunteer.  The practice times are first-come, first-choice.  All families must volunteer at three of our five meets.  You will also find out at which level your child was placed – Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced.  Levels will be evaluated and swimmers may be reassigned after the first week, so consider that possibility when choosing practices.

*   Parent Meeting – April 28, Monday, 7 p.m. at Silverlake Elementary Cafeteria (2550 County Road 90)

*    This will be your last opportunity to make your registration payment, pick your practice time, and choose where you will volunteer.  The parent meeting will address any concerns you may have, and hopefully answer all your questions.  We invite all families to attend; however, we strongly encourage all new families to attend.

 

*   1st Day of Practice – April 29, Tuesday at Silverlake Pool (2715 Southwyck Parkway)

*    Beginning April 29, everyone will swim at the Silverlake Pool the first week of practice in your chosen practice time.  This will give everyone the chance to get to know the entire coaching staff.  Beginning May 5, you will begin swimming at your chosen pool.  

 

The practice schedule has now been posted on the website.  Please take this opportunity to not only check it out, but some of the other things there as well.  We will be updating it as time goes on.  Please get into the habit of checking it daily.  The Handbook that is currently on the website is from 2007, and we will be updating it soon; however, there is a wealth of information there that is still applicable.  If you are a new family, please check it out.

 

Please remember that we are guests of the pools where we practice.  We must clean up after ourselves and our children to be invited back next year.  Without a pool, we do not have a swim team.  We will be announcing and enforcing parental supervision policies in the next few weeks.
